Join Food Recovery Network for our biggest one-day food recovery from the Specialty Food 2018 Annual Winter Fancy Food Show!
We are Food Recovery Network (VISTA site in MD), a national nonprofit that unites college students to fight waste and feed people. We are collaborating with Specialty Food Foundation to recover any surplus food from their annual Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco. This event is a large-scale private event where food vendors display their latest food products to buyers from around the nation. Each food vendor brings food for the three days, and any food left at the end of the event will be recovered and donated. This organization has been doing these events for couple of years now, but this is the first year FRN National is helping facilitate the recovery in a big way.
We are recruiting 200+ volunteers to help transport the food from vendor booths to designated trucks on the final day of the event. Register to volunteer and tell your colleagues, friends and family to join. Volunteering at the Winter Fancy Food Show is the perfect way to end the holiday season.
One half-day : Tuesday, January 23, 2-7pm
Volunteer training (day of, 2pm) **Pizza and volunteer t-shirts will be provided
Lift (up to 35lbs.) and transport food from booths to designated trucks
