Ensures compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and MVCDC Service Plan, Policies and Procedures. Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for classroom children. Supervises and evaluates other classroom staff. Measures children's progress in accordance with Federal outcomes. Ensures compliance with ODJFS, USDA, Health and Sanitation and Regulations. Ensures the implementation of the agency designated curriculum.
Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field, with a commitment to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
Education Support Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Physically able to work 40 hours per week.

Move quickly to supervise and assist children.
Sit on floor with children; sit on a child size chair and at the child size tables.
Bend from knee and waist to talk to the children at their eye level (bend, stoop and squat).
Climb multiple stairs; participate in community walks, physical outdoor play, field trips and movement activities.
Lift a pre-school child (weighing up to 50 pounds), equipment and classroom supplies in a safe and appropriate manner.
Model standard language to enhance children’s understanding of words and increase their vocabulary.
Observe children’s actions, hear children’s voices (verbalization) and engage children to achieve learning goals.
Promote relationships of trust and respect to establish effective relationships with children, parents, coworkers and visitors.
Must possess a valid Ohio’s driver’s license with a good driving record and daily access to insured private vehicle during working hours.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry forth the Mission, Vision and Core Values of MVCDC, Inc.; support the quality management principles; and work toward agency and program goals.
Responsible for ensuring the safety and active supervision of children during all parts of the daily routine
to minimize the potential for children being left alone and/or unsupervised.
Ensure adult/child ratio is maintained at all times.
Plan, implement and evaluate a consistent daily routine.
Ensure agency’s designated curriculum is implemented in accordance with individual developmental levels of children.
Supports the Family Support Specialist, in ensuring full enrollment and a minimum of 90% average daily attendance. Accurately record absences in each child’s confidential files.
Ensure compliance of a minimum of 2 parent teacher conferences and 2 home visits for each child enrolled in the classroom.
Measure children’s progress in accordance with the Federal Outcomes.
Keep systematic and complete records on children in accordance with MVCDC expectations, ODJFS, and Head Start Performance Standards.
Maintain confidentiality in all areas for both the family and staff.
Supports opportunities for parents to become involved with Head Start, which includes recruiting parents to serve on Policy Council, Health Advisory Committee, and other committees as identified; assist FSS in maintaining Family Lending Library.
Supports the Family Support Specialist, organize parent committee meetings, facilitate the meetings and provide parents with information about centers activities, community events and advocacy opportunities.
Supprts the Family Support Specialist, in gathering information for the monthly newsletter and submit to the Administration Building. Share the responsibility of distributing the newsletter to families.
Promote communications with center team members to ensure that information is appropriately shared about children and families.
Ensure adult interactions support children’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned classroom staff; conduct performance reviews, individual professional development plans and annual evaluations.
Process leave request, time sheets, and mileage sheets on assigned classroom staff.
Collaborate with the Education Support Supervisor, Operations Manager, ECE Coordinator and Family Support Specialist to successfully transition children to kindergarten.
Partner with the Family Support Specialist in developing and implementing the Individual Education Plan and Intervention Plan.
Work with center team to plan and implement family literacy and male involvement.
Supports the center team in recruiting and training volunteers for the program.
Generate and correctly record inkind hours of families and volunteers. Submit inkind information to the cluster designee.
Support the agency’s goal of NAEYC accreditation and Step Up to Quality at all sites, including professional development.
Represent MVCDC in professional dress and manner.
Secure building, equipment, and classroom materials daily; ensure appropriate use of equipment, materials, and documentation.
Participate in assigned trainings, meetings, and college courses; implement new information to improve job performance.
Performs other duties as assigned to assist in providing quality services to children and families.
