CLASSIFICATION: 

Full-time. Full-Year or Seasonal. Non-Exempt. 

BASIC FUNCTIONS:  

Ensures compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and MVCDC Service Plans, Policies and Procedures.  Assist with maintaining a safe, healthy environment that is developmentally appropriate for classroom children.  Ensure compliance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Licensing, USDA, Health and Sanitation and Regulations. 

MINIMUM           CREDENTIALS: 

High School Diploma or GED.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  •  

Physically able to work up to 40 hours per week.

  •  

Demonstrate the ability to interact with public and to obtain and give necessary information.

  •  

Demonstrate the ability to cope with stressful situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect for the rights of co-workers, parents, children, and community persons.

  •  

Display good general intelligence and emotional stability.

  •  

Provide continuity of caring relationships for children.

  •  

Move quickly to supervise and assist children.

  •  

Sit on floor with children; sit on a child size chair and at the child size tables.

  •  

Bend from knee and waist to talk to the children at their eye level (bend, stoop and squat).

  •  

Climb multiple stairs; participate in community walks, physical outdoor play, field trips and movement activities.

  •  

Lift a child weighing up to 50 pounds, in a safe and appropriate manner.

  •  

Model standard language to enhance children’s understanding of words and increase their vocabulary.

  •  

Observe children’s actions, hear children’s voices (verbalization) and engage children to achieve learning goals.

  •  

Promote relationships of trust and respect to establish effective relationships with children, parents, coworkers and visitors.

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1.  

Carry forth the Mission, Vision and Core Values of MVCDC, Inc.; support the quality management principles; and work toward agency and program goals.

  1.  

Responsible for ensuring the safety and active supervision of children during all parts of the daily routine to minimize the potential for children being left alone and/or unsupervised.

  1.  

Assist to ensure adult/child ratio is maintained at all times.

  1.  

Support the classroom team in establishing a daily routine and implementing curriculum activities.

  1.  

Assist with ensuring adult interactions support children’s physical, social, cognitive and emotional development.

  1.  

Work in classrooms as assigned.

  1.  

Adhere to rules, laws and guidelines as defined in the MVCDC Policies and Procedures, ODJFS Regulations and the Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC and SUTQ requirements.

  1.  

Assist with promoting communications with center team members to ensure that information is appropriately shared about children and families.

  1.  

Assist with ensuring full enrollment and a minimum of 90% average daily attendance.

  1.  

Assist with generating and correctly recording inkind hours of families and volunteers. Submit inkind information to the cluster designee.

  1.  

Work with Supervisor and classroom team to ensure that high quality child care is maintained at all times; participate in all assigned training; participate in ongoing classroom reviews and individual performance reviews.

  1.  

Support agency’s goals of NAEYC accreditation and Step Up to Quality at all sites, including updating professional development training hours, information and verification via the Ohio Professional Development Network (OPDN) and Cornerstone.

  1.  

Attend and participate in all assigned training; implement new information to improve job performance.

  1.  

Practice general hygiene, including washing hands and assisting children with hand washing and tooth brushing.

15.

Complete timesheets and leave requests in ADP per agency timeframe.

16.

Adhere to agency confidentiality policy.

17.

Represent MVCDC in professional dress and manner to staff, parents, volunteers and the community.

18.

Perform other duties as assigned to assist in providing quality services for children and families.
